The Clown Army specially purchased a duckdozer for 20p in clown money from Caterpillar for the occasion of demolishing the hotel. The officials at Caterpillar were very relaxed and easy-going and didn’t seem to mind that a few people might get horribly injured, killed and squashed under the rubble of the hotel. They told CIRCA to go ahead and enjoy themselves, the clowns looked like they would be very good at demolition and they were sure everything would go just fine.

Demolition, however, was halted at the last minute as the police strongly protested against duckdozing a hotel while people in evening wear were still having dinner inside.

Sergeant Plushie of the Met shouted, while waving a banner with ‘Free Palestine’ on it, “those bastards are threatening the health and safety of innocent families all over the world; in Nicaragua, Palestine and Mexico! They should be stopped and made to sign forms! Their Business as Usual attitude disgusts me! Resist! Disobey your orders! Join us in revolution and anarchy!!!!”

A Section 14 was imposed on the police, who refused to stay behind the invisible lines created by the clowns for their own safety. This inevitably led to police officers falling over and grazing their knees and getting banged on the head by falling bits of masonry from the hotel. There were lots of tears before bedtime.

12 anti-war protestors […] from the Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army were arrested today, 15 October 2006, for clowning around outside Neal Garnett’s place, the chairman of the New Zealand Defence Industry Association (NZDIA) and organiser of the annual Defence Industry weapons conference convening at Te Papa Tongarewa this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Clown Army turned up for a home demo at Neal Garnett’s home in Brooklyn (Wellington) at about 2:30pm today Sunday Oct 15th with drums, banners and loud chanting. On their departure the clowns were stopped by 4 police cars, and held until a paddy wagon arrived. All were taken down to the police station and are still in the process of being released on bail (as at 7pm). Charges so far for three released are for “unlawfully being on a property.”

This is just one of the ever increasing signs of injustice in Aotearoa and the world, where a man who organises the showcasing and sale of arms and associated weapons equipment to blast to smitherens innocent people in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and elsewhere, is protected while non-violent protestors are arrested, harrassed and detained
unjustifiably.

TRAINING TO BE RUBBISH
Like all armies, people who wish to join the ranks of CIRCA have to undergo training. Before going into battle with CIRCA, recruits take part in intensive “bigshoe camps” lasting approximately three days for the Basic Rebel Clown Training (BRCT). At the end of the BRCT you will be capable of taking on any CIRCA mission. Becoming a clownbattant can be challenging, but it’s a rewarding life.
There are five phases of BRCT:

* Finding the Inner Clown
* Subversive Play
* Civil Disobedience and Direct Action
* Bouffon Manoeuvres
* Marching and Drilling

Details: All participants must be able to commit to the full training. Basic sleeping accommodation is available.
Cost: A Sliding scale donation to a fund that will cover travel and expenses for clown trainers and trainees.
