North American Big Shoe Camp

The First North American Big Shoe Camp
Boulder, Colorado February 9-11 2007
Are YOU tired of humdrum protests and bored of capitalism?
Do YOU enjoy working in a team and ridiculing authority?
Do YOU long for extremely absurd adventures?
The Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army is looking for fools and rebels, radicals and rascals, tricksters and traitors, mutineers and malcontents to join its ranks.
You could be part of a fighting force armed with ruthless love and fully trained in the ancient art of clowning and non-violent direct action. You could learn ingeniously stupid tactics that baffle the powerful. You could uncover your inner clown and discover the subversive freedom of fooling.
You don’t need to like clowns or soldiers, you just need to love life and laughter as much as rebellion. If you think you’ve got what it takes then follow your nose & join CIRCA!
TRAINING TO BE RUBBISH
Like all armies, people who wish to join the ranks of CIRCA have to undergo training. Before going into battle with CIRCA, recruits take part in intensive “bigshoe camps” lasting approximately three days for the Basic Rebel Clown Training (BRCT). At the end of the BRCT you will be capable of taking on any CIRCA mission. Becoming a clownbattant can be challenging, but it’s a rewarding life.
There are five phases of BRCT:
* Finding the Inner Clown
* Subversive Play
* Civil Disobedience and Direct Action
* Bouffon Manoeuvres
* Marching and Drilling
Details: All participants must be able to commit to the full training. Basic sleeping accommodation is available.
Cost: A Sliding scale donation to a fund that will cover travel and expenses for clown trainers and trainees.

any chance of a later workshop in the midwest or east coast? i’ve organized one marginally successful CIRCA action but it would be great if we could get the training, motivation, and networking that would come with a workshop. i’m in columbus, ohio, but could travel reasonable distances and/or organize and promote (heavily!) something like this. it would be awesome if that could happen.

I thouroughly agree, I live in North Carolina, and would really like to get the old nose out for Fort Bragg Demos, but…., but need encouragement.

I have no prior training as a clown, but many people say I’m nuts. Will that do? On the other hand, I tend to be much too serious. Maybe you can help? I could probably attend any future class held in the United States of Atrocities.
